Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Your instructor will contact you prior to class to discuss fabric requirements, depending on the quilt you chose to make. Please bring these additional supplies: - neutral color thread such as off-white, light gray, or medium gray. Thread should be 100% cotton for machine piecing. Do not purchase hand quilting only thread. - 6”x24” acrylic ruler (Omnigrip preferred). - 6”x12” Omnigrip ruler is optional, but very useful. - basic sewing =supplies such as fabric scissors, straight pins, a seam ripper and any other notions you regularly use. - medium or large size rotary cutter with extra blade -18”x24” or larger cutting mat for your work station - small iron and pressing mat for your work table, optional - sewing machine in good working order, plus bobbins, extra needles, a ¼” presser foot, attachments, and owner’s manual.

Instructor Materials: All handouts needed and demonstrations throughout the week.

Equipment Needs: - 1 table per student, plus extras for instructor - Adjustable rolling chairs - Raised-height tables and large mats for cutting (and we have a Martelli cutting station now) - Irons and ironing boards - Design walls - Sewing machines for students who don't bring their own

Make a quilt in the colors of your choice and explore the effects of creating contrast–or not–and varying color values. Each year, your instructor explores a new pattern in this class and will contact you beforehand with which pattern was chosen. Repeat students may also select a different quilt pattern if they choose. All levels welcome.

Sandy Bonsib is a teacher by profession and quilter by passion. She holds a graduate degree in education, is an author of nine books, and has taught nationally as well as internationally. Her quilts have been published in numerous magazines and appeared on television. Sandy coordinates a group that makes quilts for the children of women (or men) who are survivors of domestic violence. She recently returned to her Hoosier home state of Indiana.
