Student Materials: Please bring the following: - .5 HB mechanical pencil (if you want to use a range of graphite pencils, 2H, HB and 2B will be okay but also bring a sharpener. This workshop requires a very sharp pencil, that is why a mechanical pencil is preferred) - Soft graphite pencil (for making transfer paper-4B is good) - Kneaded eraser - White plastic eraser - Low-tack tape (or artist’s tape if you have it) - Tracing paper (or pad of tracing paper 9”X12” or 11”X14”) - Good quality smooth drawing paper, 80lb/130 gm/m or heavier, a pad 9”X12” or 11”X14” like Strathmore, 400 is great (if you bring loose sheets the School has drawing boards with clips) - Cardboard box large enough to contain a plant subject in a vase (approx. 10”x12”x14”)

School Fee & Materials: Portable table lamp and extension cord

Instructor Materials: I will supply the subject matter. Depending on what plant material is available at that time of year, I may have to purchase some appropriate subjects.

Redenta Soprano is an illustrator who specializes in botanical subjects. She has a degree in science and art from the State University of New York and, as a Rotary International Scholar, studied in England at Middlesex Polytechnic, where she received a post-graduate certificate in scientific illustration. Redenta's work has been published by Taunton Press, among others. She taught for many years at the New York Botanical Garden, teaches at several gardens in Florida and North Carolina, and she has been an instructor at the Folk School since 2003.
