Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Assorted fabrics for collage pages (6” pieces and smaller) - Assorted colors and sizes (#12, #8, #5, & #3) of pearl cotton for flowers, leaves and stems - Small buttons (Mother of Pearl are best) - Charms/beads - Tiny glass beads (just a few for flower centers or dew drops) - Straw needles or quilting needles for beading Available to purchase during class: - Sue Spargo’s "Creative Stitch Book" - Ribbon for binding strands - Hand dyed Painter’s Threads (available to purchase during class)

Instructor Materials: (Kit Fee: $40-$45) **Pattern $18. **8 or more Background Fabrics (5 1/2” x 6”) ripped, not cut **8-12 Quilter’s Dream Fusion Batting Pieces (5 1/2 x 6”) **Needles: Chenille #24, 18, and Milliner #1 **Flower Head Pin and other regular Glass Head Pins **Silk Ribbon (some flowers use 2mm Silk Ribbon) **Ribbons: Rayon (vintage) **Silk Cocoon **Wire Ties or Twigs for Bindings **Beads for Bug **Cheesecloth **And more….. Some items such as paint will be shared in class.

Take a wildflower walk through the North Carolina woods! Stitch a new local, mountain flower each day, such as Lady Slipper, trillium, and more. Make a creative fabric journal that includes stumpwork flowers, stitched text, and collage. Embellish with ribbons and unique hand-dyed fabrics, cheesecloth, velveteen, linen, and velvet for each flower. Learn a unique way to assemble your book with wire-ties or twigs, ribbons and buttons; other finishing options available as well. All levels welcome.

Susan Edmonson is an award-winning quiltmaker and mixed-media artist from Concord, NC, who started her artistic journey in 1981. Her specialties have included folk art, crazy-quilted purses, wall quilts, and "flower doodles." She also enjoys creating mixed-media fabric collage books and mini art quilts lavished with beading and embroidery. Susan recently appeared in a segment on the "Quilting Arts" television show, and her work has been featured in "Altered Couture" and "Sew Somerset" publications by Stampington & Co. She also teaches at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. Susan encourages her students to have fun with projects while embracing new techniques.
