The Folk School’s beloved Dulcimer Celebration is back! Celebrate our 100-year centennial anniversary during a unique, fun-filled week of instruction for both mountain and hammered dulcimer players–focus on just one instrument or dabble in both. Enjoy personalized and intimate group instruction from four experienced instructors; for novice, confident beginner, intermediate, and advanced-level musicians. Throughout the day practice skill-level appropriate technique and repertoire, review back-up chords, harmonies, and more. When playing with the larger group, put those techniques and skills into practice and expand on arrangement possibilities. All levels welcome.

Stephen Seifert has been a favorite at mountain dulcimer events since 1991, performing and teaching at hundreds of festivals including Kentucky Music Week, Black Mountain Music Festival, Augusta Heritage Center, John C. Campbell Folk School, Ozark Folk Center, Walnut Valley Festival, Nonsuch in England, and the Tono American Music Festival in Japan. He was dulcimer soloist with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra on their Warner Classical release Conversations in Silence and has performed Blackberry Winter with orchestras across the U.S. Stephen taught alongside David Schnaufer at Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music and performed with him as a duo. He is one of five coordinators of the online QuaranTune festival and has authored ten books, four CDs, and hundreds of instructional videos. Erin Mae is a freelance folk musician and mountain dulcimer teacher from Kansas who has carved her own path every step of the way. She won the 2004 National Mountain Dulcimer Championship at the age of 17, and has a degree from South Plains College in Commercial Music, where she was the first student to study mountain dulcimer. She continues today to be a leader of innovation and education in her musical community. Erin Mae’s passion is to empower and equip others to find their own creative expression in the world.
