Student Materials: Please bring the following: - PAINT: Set of professional-grade watercolors. Be sure the label says professional grade, extra-fine, or superior.. Be sure they are not student-grade. Some brands that sell professional-grade paints are Winsor and Newton, Sennelier, Daniel Smith, M Graham, QoR. If you have questions, please get in touch with me. I like Winsor and Newton and Daniel Smith tube paints. (suggested colors: Hansa Yellow, New Gamboge, Quinacridone Rose, Pyrol Scarlet, Pthlalo Blue GS, French Ultramarine Blue, and Indigo Blue.) - BRUSH: A #6 or #8 round watercolor brush. Brand I like is Silver Black Velvet #6 or #8 round. - Pad of tracing paper (9” x 12” is fine) - 1 roll Scotch-type magic or invisible tape - Masking tape (½” to ~1” wide) 1 roll - Pencil - Pencil sharpener, hand held - Apron or large t-shirt to cover your clothes, if you wish - Water jar or glass to hold water for watercolors. 2 each, if desired. - Carving glove, if you wish.

Instructor Materials: •Paper: Stonehenge 90# bright white printmaking paper •Bone folder •Mat sets: 8” x10” mat set including mat, backing board, and acetate sleeve. 2 ea. • Wood carving boards. 1/4” Shina plywood. 6” x 8”--5 each. Additional pieces can be bought for $6 each. • Carving knife. Mikisyo POWER GRIP v-tool, 1.5 mm. • Self-healing mat 9x12 •White glass plate to use for mixing paints (instructor loan)\ •Computer paper and supplies •Exercise sheets and materials

Gay Bryant is a printmaker and painter who maintains a private studio in Knoxville, TN. She has been painting and making prints for forty years and has studied art at The University of Tennessee, University of West Georgia, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and the Folk School. Gay has taught at the Folk School since 2004 and has been a juried exhibitor at the school's annual Fall Festival, where her playful paintings and prints always bring a smile.
