Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Speedball linoleum carving tool set (available at Dick Blick (Blick Art Materials), Lino Set No.1, item # 40203-1009). Or: FLexcut mini palm carving set. Available from www.flexcut.com or Blick Art Materials, item #:34219-1029 -Soft upholstery type foam to use as a stamp pad, 1” thick. A 12” x 12” piece is recommended. Available at Hobby Lobby, Michaels or Amazon. -Heavy-duty cafeteria style tray or cookie baking sheet, approximately 12” x 16” to place stamping pads and inks on. -100% cotton, rayon, or linen fabric with smooth texture to print on – 3 to 6 yards (undyed, plain cotton muslin-bleached or unbleached is OK, sheeting, cotton broadcloth, cotton lawn, rayon, or smoother linen). -NOTES: (Optional): Cotton T-shirts, bandanas, cotton tea towels. Silk scarf blanks, natural fabric wearables. *Store bought fabrics/ clothing should be washed and dried prior to class to remove starch/sizing. Ironing not necessary. AVOID highly textured fabrics. LIGHTLY colored fabrics (inks are transparent so colored fabrics must be pale-medium shade) -Simple designs, ideas, colors, shapes, text, etc. students want to work from -Sketch book or drawing paper -2B or 4B pencil and eraser -Sharpie markers: ultra-fine and fine - Several sheets of tracing paper (9”x12” or smaller is fine) -4-8 oz. lidded containers to store your mixed pigments (Solo brand or deli containers work well) -Gloves: 1-pair of rubber dishwashing type or a box of latex disposable gloves that fit your hands -Sharp scissors -Comfortable shoes -Work clothes or apron (pigments stain clothes)
School Fee & Materials: One inch T-pins: 1 box (#16, ½ lb. box). Available from WAWAK.com (item #: TP12) 2.Small 6-8 oz. lidded storage containers to store student’s mixed pigments in during the week (Solo brand is good) 3.Mixing utensils: spoons, popsicle sticks or similar 4. Rubber spatulas: long and short handled with narrow blade 5. Newspapers or a roll of newsprint 6. Rags for clean up 8. Sponges & Simple Green (Simple Green works best to clean off pigments from work surfaces and counters)
Instructor Materials: Instructor materials fee to be determined closer to workshop (approximately $50 -$80).-Prepared mounted linoleum blocks (3-4 per student) -Bench hooks (1 per student) -Saral carbon paper (for transferring designs to blocks) Jantex inks and extender base -Color palette sheets and Information packet -Multi-page information handout for students

Available from WAWAK.com (item #: TP12) - Padded print tables* covered in protective plastic vinyl (*interlocking foam floor mats for padding) -Table risers for each table -Stools and chairs for each table -Anti-fatigue mats at each padded table and a padded demonstrator table. -Sinks mixing counters -Washer and dryer -Hair dryers -Clean irons and ironing boards -Extension cords - Small 6-8 oz. lidded storage containers to store student’s mixed pigments in during the week (Solo brand is good) -Mixing utensils: spoons, popsicle sticks or similar - Rubber spatulas: long and short handled with narrow blade -12 Ketchup style squeeze bottles with yorker spouts -Spritz bottles with water for dampening fabrics -Spritz bottles with Simple Green for cleaning -Sponges and Simple Green (Simple Green works best to clean off pigments from work surfaces and counters) -Bar Keeper’s Friend cleansing powder or LAVA soap bars -Painter’s tape or masking tape: 1” and 2” wide -Cloth rags for clean up

Jeanne Brady is an award-winning textile print artist and the owner of jeannebrady.studio, a working and teaching studio in central Tennessee. Formerly Director and Professor of Fibers at the Appalachian Center for Craft, her creative career spans more than thirty-five years, with work published in books and magazines; and displayed, attired, and happily utilized in national and international collections. Jeanne teaches workshops in her studio and across the country in block carving and screen printing on fabric.
