Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Digital camera capable of operating in manual mode - Camera owner's manual, if you have it - Extra battery (recommended); charger for rechargeables - Cable to transfer images from camera to computer - Flash/jump drive or other image storage device - Tripod - Laptop computer* -- highly recommended -- with knowledge of how to use it. (We do not provide computer training.) - Comfortable clothing, shoes, hat, and outdoor gear to suit the season (including rain gear). Also bring anything else you need for field trips (medicine, sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.) * The Folk School has a computer lab equipped with 4 new Macintosh computers with Photoshop for shared student use, card readers, and photo printer. If you plan to use a school computer, please bring a flash drive. Note: This is not a Photoshop class.
School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $20 / Forrest Service Special use-permit ***The Folk School has a USFS Special-use Permit. Please contact the Programs Department to obtain a copy for use during your session.*** - Folk School vehicle* - Sound system for playing music at Friday exhibit
Instructor Materials: * Laptop computer for displaying photos for review and critique
Equipment Needs: Harvest Room - Computer lab -- now with 5 new Macs (1 for instructor, and 4 for student use) - Projection equipment. (There is now a wall-mounted monitor with Apple TV, and we still have the DLP projector & screen.)

See, compose, and capture beautiful images using your digital camera. Photograph landscapes and natural elements in ways that set them apart from the usual snapshot. Learn elements of composition and qualities of light, along with some post-production techniques. Some field trips will require carrying gear over moderate terrain. For beginning to intermediate-level students capable of operating their digital camera in manual mode.

Go out at night to shoot the Milky Way and other celestial objects. Learn elements of composition and qualities of light, along with some post-production techniques. Some field trips will require carrying gear over moderate terrain.  For beginning to intermediate-level students capable of operating their digital camera in manual mode.

Drew Campbell has been passionate about nature photography for over 40 years. Over the past five years, Drew's photographs have been featured in several galleries in western North Carolina and in northern California. His photographs have also appeared in The Laurel of Asheville magazine and on several websites.
