Exploring the Universe

Explore the cosmos in all it's forms as you create beads and marbles that capture a window into space. Create murrini stars, suns, and moons, as well as worm holes, comet trails, and more. For deep space, learn how to develop a dichroic core over which you can layer and build your universe. For some beads, fully encase your cosmos and then cold work the faces to reveal the scene inside. Make a simple chain necklace to hang your favorite bead on so you can wear it home. Intermediate flameworking skills required. $

Frank Scott and his wife Judy owned a gallery for more than 30 years--specializing in Art Glass and Antique Prints. Frank was a finalist in the 2024 International Venetian Bead Competition and was in the Perspectives Exhibition that traveled to the Corning Museum of Glass as well as the Glass Museum in Kobe, Japan. He taught for many years at the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee, Wi. He loves the Venetian/Murano tradition of glass bead making and counts Lucio Bubacco, Paul Stankard, and Kristen FrantzenOrr as his glass gods and goddesses! Frank, who has been flameworking since 1995 is a member of the Transylvania Handcrafters Guild, and the Southern Highland Craft Guild. He sits on the Collections Committee of the SHCG.
