Splitting the Difference–Two Stools with Different Tools

Create two fun and functional stools as you strengthen your skills in woodturning, woodworking, and seat weaving! Use spilt turning as the foundation for a foot stool and taper legs for a table stool frame. Have a Shaker tape demonstration and get started with seat weaving. Return home with two completed stool frames and the knowledge and resources to weave your seats. Prior experience in the woodshop and on the lathe is required. No prior seat weaving experience is necessary. $

Janine Wang is a woodworker and educator based in Philadelphia, PA. She teaches woodturning within the Fine Woodworking department at Bucks County Community College, woodworking at the West Philly-based non-profit Tiny WPA, and leads various workshops across the states every year. She exhibits furniture work exalting freedom, familiarity, and unrestricted comfort in the environment.

Rebecca Juliette-Duex was first introduced to the value of craft by her maternal grandparents. As a child, she watched their hands sew, saw, and shape objects out of practical necessity. They inspired her to study fiber art and furniture making and to pursue craft as a personal necessity. A multidisciplinary artist, Rebecca brings textiles and wood into conversation to tell the story of her own creative heritage and inspire others to do the same. She places equal value on personal practice and community engagement. Rebecca is a Board Member of The Chairmaker’s Toolbox, an organization committed to equity in the field of green woodworking.
