Student Materials: Please bring the following: -3-5 of your favorite suspended/drop spindle(s), each weighing around 1 oz (if you have a cross-armed/Turkish spindle, please bring that, too); -your favorite supported spindle(s) and spindle bowl(s) -a pair of hand cards and/or a blending board* and associated accessories -feel free to bring your preferred knitting needles and crochet hooks -note-taking apparatus. -The studio is well equipped with wheels, hand spindles, hand cards, a blending board and other tools needed. School Fee & Materials: $0
Instructor Materials: an array of fibers for carding and blending, including a host of mix-ins, and cores for creating plying balls. -There will also be a limited number of blending boards to lend. -knitting needles and crochet hooks for sampling. (Please feel free to bring your preferred needles and hooks, if you’d like.)

Description

Using hand cards and a blending board create rolags, punis, and puni-rolags of various makeups and textures for intentional color planning of gradients, heathers, variegates, fractals, tweeds, etc. Apply differing spinning draws to both suspended and supported spindles yielding distinctive outcomes in your plied results. Intermediate levels welcome; students must be proficient in spinning a stable singles yarn with a hand spindle and have an understanding of plying.
