Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Water Bottle - Closed-toe leather work shoes - Cotton clothing; long pants/no cuff - Safety glasses* - Ear protection* - Apron & gloves (optional) * The school has generic ear plugs and safety glasses available. However, you are encouraged to bring your own high-quality, well-fitting ear and eye protection. The Folk School Craft Shop also sells high-quality safety glasses.

Join an instructor who creates a comfortable space where beginners of all ages can learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing. Build confidence and make lasting memories as you bring multiple generations together around the anvil. Receive an introduction to safety, fire maintenance, and forging techniques. Enjoy forging items such as hooks, key chains, plant hangers, and a variety of campfire tools such as fire rakes, forks, and steak flippers.

Build confidence and make lasting memories as you bring multiple generations together around the anvil. Receive an introduction to safety, fire maintenance, and forging techniques. Enjoy forging items such as hooks, key chains, plant hangers, and a variety of campfire tools such as fire rakes, forks, and steak flippers.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is for 12-17 year olds to attend with a parent, grandparent, or guardian -- 1 youth per 1 adult. To register, you MUST purchase adult and youth spots as a pair, one youth per one adult: $670 (adult), $330 (youth), $1,000 (combined).

Har Fisher is a retired Middle School Science teacher. He has demonstrated at historic reenactments in FL and GA including a 30 year long role as the Pioneer Village blacksmith at the Georgia Mountain Fair. For many years he owned a blacksmith shop in a late 1800s Florida Flywheeler Village. Har has been improving his craft at conferences in the US and Canada as well as learning through classes at the Folk School.
