School Fee & Materials: Flammable materials like shellac, isopropyl alcohol and propane for torches.
Instructor Materials: Additional wood panels and brushes may be available for purchase. An assortment of paints and mediums for experimentation such as collage papers, alcohol inks and oil paint sticks. Examples of encaustic techniques we will be working with in the class. Demonstrations of techniques and an example studio set up for encaustic painting. Sample material consumables (paints, paper and panels).
Equipment Needs: Painting Studio - The classroom, tables and chairs. - Access to electricity and additional extension cords and multi-strips. - Access to a display monitor and camera for presentations.

Brian Dunning has over 25 years of experience with encaustic painting and mixed media collage. He received his BFA in painting and sculpture from Cornish College of the Arts in 1986 and his master's in visual arts from the University of Northern Colorado in 2000. Since then, Brian has served as a professor of graphic design at Aims Community College in Greeley, CO, and as an art instructor for drawing, figure drawing, and printmaking. His work has been published in several books on collage: Creative Collage by Nita Leland, Collage Techniques by Brommer, and Artists' Artsembles by Color Q. In 2018, Brian was awarded an NGAE Fellowship in which he studied with Paula Roland in Santa Fe, NM. His work can be found at www.bdunningarts.com.
