Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Wear cotton/natural fiber clothing and closed toe shoes -Work apron -Particle dust mask to wear while sifting enamels -Covered water bottle, no food or open drinks in the studio -The folk school has all the tools needed, but students are responsible for replacement cost of broken or lost tools. You may bring your own tools labeled with your name.
School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $20-40, for copper and enamels depending on what is used

Learn how to draw and paint flowers on copper using enamel. Start with simple drawing techniques, using pencil, pen, and brush. Then, learn how to transfer your designs and add color with enamel. Inspired by the Folk School garden, this class will guide you step by step–from basic outlines to adding fine details with different enameling materials. Create beautiful pieces perfect for earrings or pendants.

Mi-Sook Hur is an award-winning enamelist and metalsmith who is a professor in the School of Art and Design at East Carolina University. Her work focuses on realistic images inspired by nature, and she explores the modern studies of Limoges enamels. Her work is included in the collections of the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (Little Rock, AR); Enamel Arts Foundations (Los Angeles, CA); Crocker Art Museum, (Sacramento, CA); John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI); Philadelphia Museum of Art (Philadelphia, PA); Racine Art Museum (Racine, WI); Kamm Teapot Foundation (CA); and Yale University Art Gallery (New Haven, CT).
