Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Set of basic clay-working tools (available at pottery supply companies or the Folk School Craft Shop). Please label personal tools with your name or initials. The Clay studio is equipped with lots of donated tools and student tool kits are available to use for the week. - 2-3 work towels - Work apron, if desired, or clothes you can get dirty - Particulate dust mask - Packing material to transport your pieces home -Water bottle -Bucket or container to carry home scrap clay Estimated # of bags per student? _____1______ Standard clay, glaze, firing Fee: $36 per bag

Focus on hand-building with slab and coil building to create unique pieces of pottery. Also, use the ancient method of Terra Sigillata to achieve rich surface colors. All levels welcome.

Ellen Kleckner (she/her) is an artist and educator living in Cedar Rapids, IA. Her artistic practice weaves together community engagement, material investigation, and collaboration. She studied ceramics at the Appalachian Center for Craft (BFA) and Ohio University (MFA). Ellen is the Executive Director of the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio, a non-profit community art center.

Olga Yukhno is an artist originally from Russia. She has spent the past two decades dedicated to her passion for art. Yukhno has had the honor of training and studying under some of the most prominent artists in the United States and Europe, focusing on learning primarily ceramics and enameling. She has also attended some of the leading art and craft schools in the USA, including Penland School for Craft, Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft, and Pocosin School of Fine Craft.
She has participated in various exhibitions across the United States as well as Russia, including 8 solo exhibitions, and received numerous awards in juried shows. Yukhno's work and her thoughts on art have been featured in several radio and TV interviews as well as multiple articles and art publications. Currently, Olga Yukhno is a sculpture instructor at Columbia Art Center, SC
