New & Non-traditional Overmarbled Patterns for Paper (Long Weekend)

Print marbled paper and then print it again by overmarbling. A number of complex and modern patterns are intentionally created by two or more layers of marbling–Swoon, Party, Bullseye, Vertigo, and Peek-a-boo–as well as layered traditional patterns. Intermediate to advanced levels welcome; intended for students with previous marbling experience.

Silvana Martins is a Brazilian-American artist who has been creating for more than 30 years. She specializes in paper marbling and bookbinding, though she has practiced over 20 disciplines, including watercolor, ceramics, wood turning, printmaking, enameling, and more. Currently she teaches both disciplines at John C. Campbell Folk School, Crealde School of Art, the Maitland Museum, and in her private studio in FL. She’s a member of the Hand Bookbinders of CA, Book Arts Guild of Central FL, Guild of Book Workers, and Midwest Marbling. She is most passionate about helping others learn, new, exciting and beautiful ways to make art.

Chris Aharonian has been captivated by marbling for more than a decade. She loves working with color, developing new patterns, and using her marbled designs to create things. She has taken many marbling workshops and her teachers have included Faith Harrison, Galen Berry, and Daniel and Regina St. John. She also enjoys making stuff out of glass, metal, and fiber.
