Student Materials: Please bring: -1 or 2 terrycloth old hand towels -A magnifying device, such as an OptiVISOR or reading glasses, may be helpful for detail work. -Safety glasses. (If you wear glasses, try 3M Eyeglass Protectors, #47030, that fit comfortably over glasses -- available at building-supply stores.) Safety glasses are also available in the studio, if needed. -It is recommended to use a mask when using a polisher and grinder in the Jewelry studio -Black, fine-point Sharpie pen -Notebook and pen -Something to tie your hair back with, if applicable -Apron or old clothes, recommended -Non-flammable clothing and close-toed shoes, recommended

Hinges are a way to connect and also give movement to various forms of jewelry. Create a copper bracelet, pendant, or earrings with nontraditional hinges using tubing, files, and a jeweler's saw. Embellish the surface of your piece with hammers, stamps, and the rolling mill to create interesting textures. All levels welcome; jewelry soldering skills helpful but not a requirement.

Cindy Moore has owned several successful galleries, and now devotes all her time to metalworking and teaching her time-tested techniques. She has pushed some metals past the "established" methods and is constantly experimenting. Cindy's classroom atmosphere is casual, creative, and inspiring as new methods are explored. She sells her work in ten galleries, from Georgia to Arizona, and in one well-established catalog.
