Weave Tag (Intergenerational / July 26-31)

Join us for the inaugural game of weave tag! Work together in pairs to create weavings that respond to and build upon each other's ideas–just like a game of tag, but with fiber. Using beginner-friendly techniques such as warp painting, paper weaving, discontinuous weft, and more, take turns adding to the creative conversation through your work. Through hands-on weaving and thoughtful discussions, discover how traditional craft practices can become a language for connection across generations.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is for 12-17 year olds to attend with a parent, grandparent, or guardian -- 1 youth per 1 adult. To register, you MUST purchase adult and youth spots as a pair, one youth per one adult: $670 (adult), $330 (youth), $1,000 (combined).

Mitchell Burleson is a hand weaver and fiber artist from Clayton, North Carolina. Mitchell is the owner of a small batch handwovens business called Mitchell Weaves that focuses on promoting the durability, comfort, and beauty of handwoven fabrics in the home. Mitchell is also a practicing studio artist that works to communicate aspects of the weaving process directly while commenting on his southern heritage, interpersonal communication, and how the brain processes information. Mitchell received a BA in fashion and textile design from NC State University in 2020 and an AAS in Professional Craft from Haywood Community College in 2022, and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in studio art at the University of Kentucky.
