Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Set of basic clay-working tools (available at pottery supply companies or the Folk School Craft Shop). Please label personal tools with your name or initials. - 2-3 work towels - Work apron, if desired, or clothes you can get dirty - Dust mask for mixing glazes - Packing material to transport your pieces home - Container to carry home scrap clay - Water bottle Estimated 1 bag of clay used per student ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL MATERIALS FEE: $36 (Clay at $36 per bag, which includes glaze & firing)

Learn slab, pinch, and coil techniques to build forms, then bring them to life with sculpted details like tentacles, fangs, horns, and bugs. Expect lots of texture, imagination, and Halloween-inspired weirdness. No prior clay experience required, just a love of creatures, creativity, and all things a little creepy.

Anna Schroeder grew up in Asheville, NC, surrounded by the clay arts. After an education and career in marketing, she followed in her artist grandmother's footsteps to pursue a passion for clay sculpture. Anna brings a joyful, always-learning attitude to her work. Her clay practice centers on creating expressive figure sculptures with rich colors and detailed textures. Anna lives in Durham, NC, and has a studio at Claymakers, a nonprofit community ceramics center, where she also serves as a board member and instructor.
