Fall Foraging & Wildcrafting

Learn about fall wild foods and herbal traditions of Southern Appalachia with an herbalist and author/nutritionist/forager as your instructors. Explore trails on the Folk School campus and learn how to safely, ethically, and sustainably wild-harvest botanicals that can be used for both food and wellness. All levels welcome!

Cara-Lee Langston is a South African-born nutritionist, herbalist, wildcrafter, and educator. She holds an undergraduate degree in exercise science, a certificate in medical herbalism from the Botanologos School of Herbal Studies, and an MS in nutrition and integrative health from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She is also a Certified Wild Mushroom Food Safety Specialist. Cara strives to build relationships with local farmers and to engage community interest in integrative health and wellness. Based in the northeast Georgia mountains, Cara offers food and nature-based education and nutrition services for all ages through her small business, Wildcraft Kitchen. www.wildcraftkitchenga.com

Patricia Kyritsi Howell is an inspiring herbalist and the author of "Medicinal Plants of the Southern Appalachians: Second Edition." For 30 years, she directed the BotanoLogos School of Herbal Studies in beautiful Rabun County, Georgia. In her classes, she encourages others to explore the wonders of herbal medicine in the southern Appalachians!
