Description

Learn foundational skills for Windsor chairmaking while making a classic, American, Windsor loop back side chair. Shape basic parts on the lathe, steam-bend a crest rail, carve a seat, and hand-shape spindles on a shave horse. Practice traditional joinery techniques, like mortise and tenon, and bring all the elements together in a final, side chair assembly. No experience necessary, but some evenings and long hours may be required. All levels welcome. $

Tyler Rogers is a chair maker who lives in Chattanooga, TN, with his wife and young son. He started in the carpentry world nearly 10 years ago renovating houses. His fascination with craftspeople making everyday objects (bowls, chairs) led him to spend time in his shop building Windsor chairs. In his spare time, he enjoys fly-fishing, cycling, and reading.
