Chair Seat Sampler

Is it cane? Rush? Splint reed? Wicker? You've seen it in grandma's house, strolling through antique stores, and adorning modern furniture. Learn the basics of the weaves you've been admiring in this chair seat sampler class. Dive deeper into the weaves of your choice. Learn to weave on simple, structured stools or bring your own chair seat (surface finished; in good structural repair). Your instructors can also provide you with a chair(s) with advance notice. All levels welcome. $

NOTE: Some stamina required; students typically stand most of the day and need some hand dexterity and strength. Lifting of the chair multiple times while working will be required.

In 2014, he turned his hobby into a small business called Friend of Furniture that he runs along with his wife. Together, they rescue quality furniture that has endured years of use but still has a lot of life left. Mitch has delighted many clients with his ability to bring an old family heirloom back to its original beauty. He fell in love with chair weaving in 2019 and it quickly became one of the main services he offers his clients and something he loves to teach.

Deb Palminteri has been restoring and refinishing antique furniture for over ten years. What began as a hobby for her and her husband, Mitch, flourished into a small business called Friend of Furniture. Together, Mitch and Deb rescue quality furniture that has endured years of use but still has a lot of life left. Deb loves collaborating with clients on furniture projects, upcycling great finds and transforming furniture into functional pieces of art. Mitch and Deb love sharing their passion for furniture restoration, refinishing, and artistry with others.
