Student Materials: Please bring the following: PAINTS: Best quality you can afford. Get professional grade, not student grade or the Cotman line. DaVinci, Holbein, Daniel Smith, and Winsor Newton are good quality. The colors needed for good success in this class are: -Aureolin Yellow – Holbein or Davinci -Burnt Sienna -Ultra Marine Blue -Cobalt Blue – DaVinci -Antwerp Blue – Winsor Newton -Cerulean Blue -Veridian -Quinacridon Red -Quinacridon Rose (Permanent Rose or Rose Madder will work as well) -Quinacridon Gold -Lemon Yellow (Cadminum) – DaVinci -Opera – Holbein -Hookers Green -Sap Green – DaVinci -Paynes Grey BRUSHES: if you own brushes, by all means, bring them. If you need brushes, here is a basic list: -#6 Round Golden Fleece (or brand of your choice) -#10 Round Golden Fleece -1/2” Flat – Winsor Newton Series 995 is nice -#1 Rigger -1 ½” Flat Wash Brush -Set of Fritch Scrubbers -A Cat’s Tongue Brush is highly recommended and very desirable. Paper will be covered by materials fee. Students should bring a sketchbook, 8x10 or 9x12 will be fine, or whatever you already have at home. MISCELLANEOUS Items: -#2 Pencil -Mat Knife -Kneaded Eraser -Paper Towels – Viva preferred -Natural Sponge if you have it -Water Containers -Mister or Spray Bottle -Masking Tape

Instructor Materials: some watercolor paper and use of watercolors as well as texturing materials.

Come join your instructor for a class where you explore how to capture these landscapes using watercolors. Use the Folk School setting and your own photos to create your own unique paintings. Suzanne DesLauriers has been a working artist for over thirty years. She was the 1996 Western North Carolina Creative Teacher of the Year and the 1999-2000 North Carolina Secondary Art Teacher of the Year. Suzy is a signature member of the Southern Appalachian Artists Guild as well as a member of the Southern Watercolor Society and the Southeastern Pastel Society. She has taught and exhibited her work in the Carolinas, Maine, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. She believes in unlocking the artist within each of us.
