The Calligraphic Brush

Come learn at least three different alphabets using both flat and pointed brushes with water-based pigments. Work on both larger and smaller scales allowing you to become acquainted with the range of possibilities for lettering. Also, experiment with working with layers of letters and incorporating collage elements. Your work may become freestanding broadsides or used to make a simple book using pages you create during class. All levels welcome.

Margaret Amoss received a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia and spent many years working as a professional graphic designer. In 1987, she joined Atlanta Friends of the Alphabet - a calligraphy guild - and has been an active member in this organization for many years, currently serving on the board. Margaret has participated in many brush and pen workshops from lettering masters around the world, and she continues to pursue excellence through study and frequent practice. She has taught calligraphy classes at various institutions, including University of Georgia's Continuing Education and at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center.
