Equipment Needs: benchtop drill press, benchtop bandsaw, sandpaper, benchtop sander, handsaw, dremels, woodburners, drawknives, broom treadles, cutting mats. If you have it, access would be handy: turkey roasters or big stainless pots for dyeing tampico, rotary cutters for cutting leather scrap into strips, and I guess it would be depending on what's going on in the woodworking shop and woodturning shops but if there's availability to just *demo* on a single lathe for a short stint, not have any of the students get on a lathe, that could be awesome!
Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
Total Materials Fees: $60

C. Murphy is an artist, craftsperson, and farmer (in no particular order) who's preoccupied with the relationships we have with the objects in our everyday life, the materials they're made out of, and the long webs of history and tradition that brought them into the present. Using natural and reclaimed materials as often as possible, they create art, accessories, and home goods with intention and consideration for where those materials came from and how that object will exist in the lives of others; they especially love creating tools for other creatives' practices. Curious about everything, they explore many mediums including but not limited to broommaking, alternative process photography, woodworking, blacksmithing, jewelry, and fiber arts.
