Murphy is an artist, craftsperson, and farmer (in no particular order) who's preoccupied with the relationships we have with the objects in our everyday life, the materials they're made out of, and the long webs of history and tradition that brought them into the present. Using natural and reclaimed materials as often as possible, they create art, accessories, and home goods with intention and consideration for where those materials came from and how that object will exist in the lives of others; they especially love creating tools for other creatives' practices. Curious about everything, they explore many mediums including but not limited to broommaking, alternative process photography, woodworking, blacksmithing, jewelry, and fiber arts.
