Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Dust mask, eye protection, and ear protection - Long pants and closed-toe shoes to be worn in the shop

School Fee & Materials: -Glue -Sandpaper -Finish Disc and belt sanding surfaces appropriate to each machine

Instructor Materials: All materials used in the class

Equipment Needs: - 2 double-eye hot plates (preferred) - Workbenches (1 per student ideal) - Bandsaw with 3/16" blade (preferred) - 3 -6" disc/belt sanders - 1 table saw - Planer - 1 drill press - various other items as required from the woodworking studio (if that studio is not used for the class).

Use hand and power tools to construct your boxes, then finish them with paints, stains or oils, and waxes. Optionally, students may construct a small open round box. Returning Shaker box students may craft larger pieces or trays. All levels welcome; no woodworking experience required. $

Michael Williams was introduced to the Folk School by his father, Lenton Williams, and is very proud to have learned woodworking from him, both at the school and at home. Like his dad, Michael is a retired Army officer. He lives in a small town in the Finger Lakes region of New York, where he and his spouse run a real estate business managing property and rebuilding older homes.
