Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Water bottle - Closed-toe, leather work shoes - Cotton clothing; long pants/no cuff - Safety glasses* - Ear protection* - Particulate respirator or N95 mask* (optional) - Leather apron & gloves (optional) - Personal tools, if desired * The school has generic ear plugs and safety glasses available to borrow. However, you are encouraged to bring your own high-quality, well-fitting ear and eye protection. The Blacksmith Shop also sells safety glasses and N95 masks if needed. Standard Coal Fee: $22-$44 ($22+ weekend) Standard Steel Fee: $35-$44+ week ($30+ weekend) Total Estimated Fee: $100-$130
School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $100-$130 Bags of coal for students to purchase for use in class - Steel stock – please specify types and sizes needed - Please list any other material needs here:

Blacksmithing is a physically and mentally rewarding experience. Join us in the forge for a long weekend of making items to use in your home bar after a hard day’s work. Basic blacksmithing fundamentals will be covered while making bottle openers, corkscrews, tap handles, and more. All levels welcome; many of these projects are scaleable to meet your individual skill level. $

Josh Cooper is a professional educator, artist-blacksmith, farmer, and woodworker. Since 2003, he has taught in public schools, summer camps, and community colleges. As a professional blacksmith, Josh specializes in functional and decorative ironwork for the home, cabin, and campsite. He also enjoys green woodworking as a hobby.
