Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Set of basic clay-working tools (available at pottery supply companies or the Folk School Craft Shop). Please label personal tools with your name or initials. The Clay Studio is equipped with lots of donated tools & student tool kits are available to use for the week. - 2-3 work towels - Work apron, if desired, or clothes you can get dirty - Dust mask for mixing glazes - Packing material to transport your pieces home Clay at $36 per bag (including glaze materials & firing) $10 for underglazes ESTIMATED MATERIALS FEE: $46-$82
School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $46-$82 - Frost Cone 6 Porcelain - Studio glazes - underglazes (black, white, Red, yellow, orange, medium blue, chartreuse and leaf green)
Instructor Materials: bisque porcelain pieces for working with underglaze pen and other decorating techniques

Tackle the challenges of handbuiding with porcelain and explore ways to problem-solve them. A variety of techniques in building functional forms using slab and pinching will be demonstrated. Learn your instructor’s approach to surface treatments with a focus on illustrations and storytelling, sgraffito, drawing, and underglazes to achieve the effects you seek. Intermediate to advanced students welcome.

Keok (KB) Lim I was born in Singapore and worked as a dentist for twenty years before moving to Atlanta in 2001 with my family. Always being very keen on the arts, I began making pottery and sculpture 15 years ago at the Spruill Art Center in Dunwoody, GA, under the tutelage of Carol Brull, while homeschooling my autistic son. My years of teaching special needs pottery has taught me to simplify, laugh, and “just do it”.
