Student Materials: Please bring the following: - a set of watercolor paints (not student grade) A few good ones in primary colors like Daniel Smith will give a solid start to your collection. - set of brushes: a few rounds, some flat wash brushes, 1 inch to 3 inches, depending on how big you want to work, a tiny detail brush - a palette (a lid is nice for traveling) with some large areas for mixing large amounts - painter's masking tape, blue or white (from a hardware store) or acid-free (from an art store.) (The lavender delicate painter's tape from Home Depot was too delicate and would not stay stuck when wet.) - masking to preserve white areas (Mask-it, Friskit, etc...) Some have pointy applicators, which are nice. - a board bigger than your paper - clamps are useful if you want to use them - photos of subjects you'd like to paint ESTIMATED ADDITIONAL MATERIALS FEE: $20

Instructor Materials: Nicer quality papers in 140lb - 300lb weights, enough for the week. Ox gall Watercolor Medium Gum Arabic Salt Alcohol etc...

Jeanne Whitney attended Cornish School of Art and the University of Washington. She has illustrated over twenty children's books, the latest being "A Seed Story: or the Curious Odyssey of Cisco the Seed," which she wrote and illustrated. Over the years she has done portraits, landscapes, and murals. She is a member of the Woman Painters of Washington, The Portrait Society, The Northwest Watercolor Society, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Jeanne has grown up and raised her family in the Pacific Northwest, enjoying her children and their many animals on a small farm with her husband, Bill.
