Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Water bottle - Closed-toe, leather work shoes - Cotton clothing; long pants/no cuff - Safety glasses* - Silver Pencils - Sharpie Marker - Square File 3/8" - Slit and drift tools for 1/2" square and 5/16" round holes if you have them - If planning to do the table; print out, review, and bring the table plans on the AFC website - Ear protection* - Particulate respirator or N95 mask* (optional) - Leather apron & gloves (optional) - Personal tools, if desired * The school has generic ear plugs and safety glasses available to borrow. However, you are encouraged to bring your own high-quality, well-fitting ear and eye protection. The Blacksmith Shop also sells safety glasses and N95 masks if needed. ** The school does not provide hand files; please bring FILES appropriate for your project. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to make a project of your own design, call Jennifer several weeks prior to the class, and follow up by mailing a scale drawing of the project and list of materials to be used.

Jennifer Horn is a Certified Journeyman Farrier and artistic blacksmith. She has been serving the northern Michigan horse owner community since 1990. In addition to her career as a farrier she is also a creative Artist-Blacksmith. The skills she has employed in her horseshoeing business have allowed her to branch into the artistic blacksmith world where she enjoys working with hot steel to create fun, beautiful and functional works. She operates Daisy Hill Forge in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She is an active member of the Executive Board of the Michigan Horseshoer’s Association. She is a proud member of ABANA and the Michigan Artist Blacksmith Association as well as a regular demonstrator. Clay Spencer is one of her biggest mentors, she loves learning about Francis Whitaker and she loves to swing a hammer!
