Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Set of basic clay-working tools (available at pottery supply companies or the Folk School Craft Shop). Please label personal tools with your name or initials. The Clay Studio is equipped with lots of donated tools & student tool kits are available to use for the week. - 2-3 work towels - Work apron, if desired, or clothes you can get dirty - Dust mask for mixing glazes - Packing material to transport your pieces home ESTIMATED MATERIALS FEE: $36-$144 (Clay at $36 per bag, which includes glaze & firing)
School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $36-$144 Clay- Several Highwater clays are kept in stock, but specific clay bodies can be ordered with enough lead time and high enough enrollment - Studio glazes
Instructor Materials: - small blue ribs by mud tools if needed.
Equipment Needs: -wheel for each student -heat guns or blow torches just in case a student doesn't have one.

Stephen Phillips was born and raised in the small town of Crawford, MS. His pursuit of ceramics began during his time at East Mississippi Community College where he received an Associate of Arts degree in 2008. While attending Mississippi University for Women, Stephen earned 1st place in the 2011 Mississippi Collegiate Show for the category of ceramics and received his B.F.A. in 2013. He has taught in places such as Clay by the Bay in San Francisco and Arrowmont in Gatlinburg, and more. His work has been featured in Sheen & Pottery Making Illustrated, The Anatomy of a Good Pot  and Contemporary Black American Ceramic Artists.
