Student Materials: Please bring the following: -1 round clay sponge -1 needle tool -flat metal rib or silicone ribs for smoothing clay -ruler -aprons -a notebook -several towels -any texture tools you might want to bring -dry cleaner’s plastic to cover pots -Please write your name on all tools you bring with permanent marker -Packing material to transport your pieces home -container to carry home scrap clay -water bottle Standard clay, glaze, firing Fee: $36 per bag Estimated 1-2 bags per student

Learn how to use templates as well as how to design your own. Cone 6 glaze firing using the studio glazes as much as possible! May go home with a few pieces that are bisque fired or unfired. All levels welcome.

Sylvia Coppola has worked with clay since 1976, producing pots which continue to evolve over time. Each piece is created with form and function in mind as well as being decorative. Textured surfaces are created by carving lines, faceting, and using found objects to impress in the clay, adding interest. Many of the pots are formed on the wheel and then pulled out of the round shape to form ovals or squares, rectangles and triangles. Some pieces are hand built and textured with handmade stamps or textured surfaces. Clay is a fascinating medium with endless possibilities.
