Just for Fun (Long Weekend)

Learn basic soldering skills, some simple cold connections, and an easy way to pattern metal–copper, brass, and silver–in this fun and fast-paced class. Use these techniques to get creative designing and making earrings, bracelets, and/or a necklace. All levels welcome, but good eyesight or magnification is needed.

Carol Eder-Smith is a nurse by profession and an artist by avocation. She has learned her craft over the years by attending workshops taught by some of the best artists in our region. Her work is found in fine galleries around western North Carolina. She lives in Asheville with her husband, Shawn, and hairy "daughter," Garby.

Barbara Joiner has taught clay and jewelry classes for over 40 years. She studied clay at the University of Illinois, silversmithing at Indiana University, and she has an MFA degree from Southern Illinois University. Barbara's work is in many collections, including the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and has won numerous awards throughout the U.S. She is a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and is the Folk School's Resident Artist in Jewelry & Metals.
