Karen Smock was born with a love for the textile arts, a passion nurtured by both of her grandmothers, each a gifted fiber artist. Her journey into historical textile arts began in 2010, while sewing period clothing for her family’s reenactments, when she first explored the intricate world of handmade buttons. Over the years, she has added a wide variety of textile arts to her repertoire. Karen is dedicated to preserving and passing on these time-honored skills. She can usually be found sharing the stories and techniques behind button making and textile arts, ensuring that the artistry and traditions of the past continue to inspire future generations.
