Student Materials: Please bring the following: -1 or 2 terrycloth old hand towels -A magnifying device, such as an OptiVISOR or reading glasses, may be helpful for detail work. OptiVISORs are also available in the studio, if needed. -Safety glasses. (If you wear glasses, try 3M Eyeglass Protectors, #47030, that fit comfortably over glasses -- available at building-supply stores.) Safety glasses are also available in the studio, if needed. -A particle dust mask (3M #8233 or rated equivalent) is advised when using the polisher in the Jewelry studio. The mask can be purchased from Rio Grande, item #201-654 (1-800-545-6566 or www.riogrande.com). You may also find them at your local hardware store. -Fine-point, black Sharpie pen -Notebook and pen -Something to tie your hair back with, if applicable -Apron or old clothes, recommended -Non-flammable clothing and close-toed shoes, recommended NOTE: The fluctuating cost of metals and glass used in this class may result in changes to the estimated materials fees at the time the class is run.

Acquire basic glass cutting, foiling, and soldering skills as you make simple and beautiful snowflakes and/or starbursts and progress to creating a framed stained-glass panel. Get creative with exploring elements of design and color choice and discover how different qualities of light affect and interact with the glass. $

Sheryl Koch has been working in stained glass since 1973, has been a full-time glass and kaleidoscope artist since 1980, and is now Studio Assistant for the Folk School's glass program. Her work is featured nationally and internationally in galleries, museums, and kaleidoscope books. Sheryl is well known for her brass turning-wheel kaleidoscopes. She also does commissioned stained glass for individuals, as well as church windows. Born and raised in the Southwest, she moved to Brasstown in 2004 where she continues her work of many colors, which has expanded into enameling. She loves the many facets that enameling offers.
