Dana Watson used to have a variety of handcraft hobbies, but abandoned all others when she discovered temari in 2005. She is now certified at the advanced level by the Japan Temari Association in Tokyo and is working toward her Shihan (master) level. In 2016, she traveled to Japan to learn about different regional styles of temari. Dana enjoys addicting new students to this fascinating craft by teaching classes in North Carolina and online. She has been teaching at the Folk School since 2014.
