Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Sample Sweater Materials List: 10” single point needles (or 24” circular needles) US size 5 and 7, a set of double-point #5, cable needle, stitch markers, 100g skein of a smooth, light colored worsted weight yarn, preferably a wool or wool blend. - For the full-size garment please purchase enough yarn for your sweater. Bring 2 skeins with you as well as the appropriate size needles (24 or 32” circulars) for your chosen yarn. Instructor will reach out to students before class to discuss yarnamounts and needle choices.
Instructor Materials: -pattern for the teddy sweater -all planning materials (stitch patterns, graph paper) -handouts -resource materials.
Equipment Needs: -Umbrella Swift -Ball winders -chair pads -paper to cover tables

Description

The first Arans were worn by fishermen and were knit with "mystical" decorative cables. Traditional garments were worked top-down from the shoulder straps. Learn the construction techniques as you knit a teddy-bear sized sweater. Then, plan a pullover or cardigan sweater using cable patterns of your choice. The top-down construction and simple boxy shape lends itself to a flattering fit, easy to customize. Cover garment sizing in detail; leave with a complete plan for your personalized garment.
