Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Apron - Long rubber gloves if you have them - 4 yards or more of white fabric made from a natural fiber (I will bring some to sell if you'd prefer) - A simple garment that you love so we can make a pattern from it (skirt or top, no pants, no elastic or buttons) - Serger if you have one - Fabric scissors - Tape measure - Pins if you have them - A blank silkscreen if you want to take one home - #11 x-acto knife
School Fee & Materials: - Face masks (particle) or respirators for students who do not bring - Rubber gloves, for those who don't bring - Safety glasses, for those who don't bring Note from JClass on Fees: To be split between students and provided by studio (or instructor): * One 12x12" silkscreen for each student (about $23 each or you can bring your own) * 1 lb dye each in these colors: lemon yellow, strongest red, basic blue, black and navy (about $120 for all with shipping) *soda ash and synthrapol (about $15 with shipping) *1 gallon Holden Aqua Brite Textile Extender (about $50 with shipping) * One or two rolls of 30" brown or white paper (each student will need about 2 yards) for pattern-making. (about $8)
Instructor Materials: -dyes and textile paints , MX Procion dyes, Aquabrite Textile Colors for Fabric (color concentrates for the paints) -contact paper and pattern paper -3-5 gallons of textile base extender -Yardage for optional purchase: *7 oz. bamboo/cotton jersey @ $8.00/yd. *10 oz. cotton jersey @ $8.00/yard -Masking tape -One serger for class use + thread -Books for inspiration
Equipment Needs: -washer and dryer -blank silkscreens and squeegees -buckets for dying -padding to make print tables, 1 table per student plus a class cutting table. -drop cloths

Jude Stuecker is a studio artist with over twenty years of experience making art quilts and a successful line of art clothing. She grew up in Louisville, KY and learned how to sew from a traveling puppeteer when she was nine years old. Later she moved to Asheville, NC to study biology and English at Warren Wilson College, sewing all the while. Extensive traveling inspired her, in addition to several classes at Penland and Arrowmont Schools of Crafts. Focused on surface design, all of her projects start as white fabric before dying, printing, cutting, and sewing. She has taught at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN. She lives and works in Asheville, NC with her husband and two daughters. www.judestuecker.com
