Dale Drake has created handicrafts all her life and is happiest when her fingers are busy. As a child, she learned to sew, embroider, knit, and crochet, and she taught herself tatting to share this lacemaking art with her grandmother. She began quilting twenty-five years ago, and has made many quilts for family and friends, as well as a few for herself. Dale loves hand-sewn quilting techniques and draws inspiration from 19th-century quilt makers. She gives presentations on quilt history and teaches the gentle arts of tatting, hand piecing, hand appliqué, and hand quilting.

Laurel Horton has been making quilts and researching historic quilts since 1975. She has authored or edited numerous books and articles, and she has taught at the Folk School since 1990. She enjoys teaching simple quilting techniques that allow students to enjoy the experience, express themselves, and produce terrific results. In 2025 Laurel was inducted into the Quilter's Hall of Fame for her years of work as a quilt scholar who has made significant contributions that have shaped the world of quilting in research, publications, museums, and preservation.
