Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Wear cotton/natural fiber clothing and closed toe shoes -Work apron -Particle dust mask to wear while sifting enamels -Covered water bottle, no food or open drinks in the studio -The folk school has all the tools needed, but students are responsible for replacement cost of broken or lost tools. You may bring your own tools labeled with your name -colored pencils/pens/marker/crayons -sketchbook -studio towel -eye protection/magnification

Melissa Broeck grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design with a BFA in furniture and jewelry design. Coming from a family of makers, she spent her formative years using sewing machines, looms, torches, and other heavy machinery. Today she makes things out of metal, enamel, glass, fiber, and wood. She bases her imagery on her love of natural forms, including microscopic landscapes and the cell structures of fungus, plants, and animals.
