Burning the World Around You

Burn images on a variety of interesting materials–wood, leather, bone, paper, gourds, canvas, cork, and much more–using pyrography tools. Learn basic information including safety, materials, equipment, burning techniques, transferring patterns, correcting mistakes, and adding color and finishes. No drawing skills necessary; steady hands and good eyesight are helpful. All levels welcome.

Michele Parsons is a professional pyrography artist and author of the books, "Quick-Start Woodburning Guide" and "Leather Pyrography" (also in German). She is a frequent contributor to Fox Chapel Publishing's "Pyrography" magazine and "Big Book of Pyrography Projects." Michele has taught in-person pyrography classes to more than a thousand students over the last 20 years. She has taught classes across the US, including the International Woodcarving Congress, the Southeastern Woodcarving School, the American Woodcarving School, John C. Campbell Folk School, and various organizations.
