Student Materials: Please bring the following: -glue brushes -mark-making paint brushes -glue stick -roll of painter’s tape or artist’s tape -pencil with eraser -students are welcome to bring decorative papers from their collections, but are not required to bring papers
School Fee & Materials: squares of insulation foam for receiving awls, basketry snips, hemostats, bone folders, awls, guillotine paper cutters, rulers, one cutting mat per student, one table per student covered with newsprint, plastic for tables, glue books, break-away knives, whiteboard, dry/erase markers, TV and overhead camera for demos and slideshows, small containers for glue, glue books (old magazines)
Instructor Materials: bucket of beaten abaca pulp, inks, spray bottles, book tape, waxed linen, punching cradles, a variety of handmade and commercial papers, glue, tea lights, needles

Beginners will build foundations in book construction, while experienced makers can expand into dimensional design and experimentation. With guided demonstrations and studio time, develop confidence working with structure and material and create book forms that bridge historic techniques with contemporary expression. All levels welcome.

Jennifer Folsom is a fiber artist whose work is rooted in material and process. She explores the transformation of raw, natural fibers into textiles, vessels, and books. Much of her work begins with the slow preparation of fiber by hand, observing and honoring the material. Jennifer re-imagines traditional skills as living, evolving practices. She brings this same spirit to the classroom, guiding students with patience and clarity while encouraging curiosity, careful craftsmanship, and creative exploration.
