Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Prewarped tapestry loom, if you have and can bring. Floor looms are also available. - Personal weaving tools, if desired; available in studio. If weaving on your own tapestry loom (finer materials preferred): - Warp at the sett and weight of yarns you normally use or at 8 EPI with linen, hemp or seine twine at 800 yds/lb. - Weft in several colors at approximately 640 yds/lb. If weaving on a Folk School loom: - 150 yards 8/4 linen warp at 594yd/lb. or similar

School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $0-$10 Wool yarns (Harrisville, Quebecois, Jaggerspun)

Instructor Materials: - Chipboard loom materials (chipboard, warp - cotton, weft - acrylic, 4" tapestry needle) - Handouts

In contrast to most weaves which are woven on a plane horizontal to the loom, wedge weave is woven on the diagonal. This results in a weft-faced weaving with many distinctive characteristics and exciting design potential. Work on your own pre-warped loom or a floor loom provided by the Folk School. Explore wedge weave through hands-on experience as well as with detailed handouts and images. Intermediate levels welcome.

Connie Lippert's weaving has been exhibited in thirty states and has been accepted into over 150 juried exhibitions. She has received four artist grants from the South Carolina Arts Commission. Her work is represented in museum, corporate, academic, and private collections, and has been widely published - including a book by author Carole Green, Connie Lippert: A Wedge Weaver’s Storied Cloth. She has taught wedge weave workshops and given seminars across the United States.
