Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Mixing Palette-Your preferred palette for mixing paint; your instructor will use a glass panel backed with one sheet from Grey Matters Disposable Paper Palette. The glass is optional. -Grey Matters Paper Palette 9x12, or 12x16: https://www.jerrysartarama.com/grey-matters-paper-palettes -(Optional) Straight- edged razor with holder - for scraping old paint from glass palette. -Panels/Canvases – Your instructor will use with small in square and vertical/horizontal formats ranging from 5x7, 6x6, 6x8 to 8x10. It’s not necessary to have all sizes. Panel/Canvas Size up to each student. Bring larger panels/canvases if that’s your preference.. -Any brand, okay. Recommend having 1-2 panels per day depending on how quickly you work. Your instructor will use linen and oil-primed panels. Both are needed if you want to practice diﬀerent painting methods I’ll be demonstrating. -Linen panels: Centurion OP DLX, Creative Mark or similar. -Oil-primed mdf, or Ampersand panel, or similar brand for oils. -Oil Colors - Any professional grade, traditional oils. Your instructor will use cool and warm primaries. Below are a few examples of the colors your instructor will use: Red: Cadmium Red Light, Permanent Rose, Transparent Red Oxide, Alizarin Permanent Yellow: Cadmium Yellow Med, Hansa Yellow Deep, Transparent Yellow Oxide, Cad Lemon Blue: Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Manganese Blue White: Titanium White Minimum needed would be one each, warm primaries and white. Example: Warm Primary Triad - Cadmium Red Light, Ultramarine Blue, Hansa Yellow Deep You won’t be able to create cool primary triad color blends, but your instructor has found a warm primary triad is more versatile if keeping supplies to a minimum. Above is an example. You may have other warm triad primaries. Cover how to take and choose good reference photos, color mixing with a limited palette, planning your approach, and learning to better communicate a clear intention through your art. Your instructor will offer daily demonstrations and individual guidance. This class is for students familiar with working in oils; not recommended for students with no oil painting experience.

June Rollins artwork reflects her love for animals and nature. Using harmonious colors and interesting textures she paints endearing subjects filled with charm and personality that draw the viewer in for a closer look. June is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of NC and the Southern Watercolor Society. She began working in oils in 2017. Her expressive animal portraits are widely collected.
