Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Notebook and pencil/pen - pencil crayons - Weft yarn: 2-ply wools if you have them. All yarn will be available for purchase during class The studio has all the basic tools and supplies necessary. If you prefer to bring your own, you'll need the following (please label with your name or initials): - Scissors - Tape measure - Threading hook & sley hook - Ski shuttles, stick shuttles, Boat shuttles & bobbins - Large-eye tapestry needle

School Fee & Materials: FOLK SCHOOL FEE: $0-$50 8/4 cotton 2 ply wool in a variety of colors (Briggs & Little, or Brassard's 2ply Quebecois) or other 2 ply wool

Instructor Materials: - handouts - graph paper - some wool - instruction

Equipment Needs: - 4-shaft floor looms - all tools for dressing the looms (lease sticks, raddles, 6 or 12 dent reeds) - ski shuttles, stick shuttles, boat shuttles & bobbins - weaving toolkits

The bold, rhythmic beauty of krokbragd is a traditional Norwegian weaving technique meaning “crooked path.” Using a simple three-shaft structure and repeating three-step sequence, this weft-faced weave produces striking geometric patterns brought to life through thoughtful color play. Explore the dynamic pathways of krokbragd while developing confidence in intuitive, on-the-loom design, while creating a rug, table runner, or a set of hot pads. Students must be comfortable warping a loom.

Intermediate levels welcome; must be comfortable warping a loom.

Leslie Fesperman shares her passion for weaving with others through teaching. She is the founder and director of The Yadkin Valley Fiber Center, teaching there, at JCCFS, and in other venues. She earned her Master Weaving Certification through Olds College and is a member of Complex Weavers, Handweavers Guild of America, Tapestry Weavers South, and The Triangle Weavers Guild.
