Student Materials: Please bring the following: -All materials and equipment will be provided, but if you have your own, please bring (Optional) -Embroidery scissors -Oxford punch needles -Rug hooks -A gripper hooking frame -You are encouraged to bring your own novelty yarn stash for personal use and for sharing.

Instructor Materials: The materials fee for three projects includes patterns on foundation cloth, two kits, dyed and undyed wool fabric, a colorful hand-dyed rug, worsted-weight yarns, novelty yarns, velvet, silk, fleece, roving, undyed yarn, and fabric for dyeing. Before class, you will select your large pattern from a dozen options. The instructor will provide gripper frames, wool cutters, and Oxford punch needles for class use.

Kathy Donovan started raising Karakul heritage sheep in Virginia in 2004, despite having no previous shepherding experience. She became an Oxford Certified Instructor in 2014. Through Checkmate Farm LLC, Kathy sells hand-dyed wool rug yarn, wool fabric, rug designs, and punch yarn kits for Oxford regular and fine needles. She offers classes on her farm in Cartersville, near Richmond, Virginia, and at various fiber festivals. Kathy is a member of ATHA and the Virginia Artisan Trail Network.
