Student Materials: Please bring the following: - Small, sharp scissors if you have them. Otherwise teacher will have rug hooking scissors for sale. - Frame & hook, if you have your own. Otherwise, these will be available for you to use and/or buy in class. - Small footstool (optional) NOTE: This activity involves long periods of sitting with head down; neck and arm comfort/strength are important.

Instructor Materials: For use/purchase: - Rug-hooking materials - Frames & hooks - Wool - Cutters/blades - Accessories - Tapestry needles

Equipment Needs: Weaving studio - Wool Cutting Machine - Sewing Machine - Iron and ironing board - Chairs for students & instructor - 3 eight-foot tables (or the equivalent) - Studio's assortment of rug-hooking tools (cutters, frames, hooks) - Sewing machine with zipper foot - Serger

Gain an introduction to transferring patterns to a backing, basic color planning, proper loop-pulling techniques, and several options for finishing techniques. Each student will choose a pattern or work on a project they have already started, choose colors for that pattern, and then work at their own level to finish the project. $

April Rosich has been rug hooking for about fourteen years. She enjoys all aspects of rug hooking and has experience with fine, medium and wide cut wool strips in addition to yarn and other specialty fibers. April is a member of the Dogwood Chapter of ATHA (Association of Traditional Hooking Artists) as well as a member-at-large of the National Guild of Pearl K. McGown Rug Hookrafters. She has attended many workshops with prominent rug hooking instructors and in 2024, began working toward becoming an accredited McGown rug hooking teacher. She has been an assistant instructor for the John C Campbell rug hooking classes for the past three years.
