Beginning & Intermediate Glass Beadmaking

Get an introduction to flameworking basics using soft glass including safety, heat control, and timing. Quickly progress from making simple “spacer” beads to creating a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. Experiment with decorative techniques using dots, stringers, masking, encasing, dichroic glass, metal foil, and types of manipulation. Time permitting, students may explore off-mandrel work. For beginners or intermediate beadmakers wanting to renew or refine skills. $

Margo Knight has been working with hot glass since 2000 and teaching beadmaking since 2002. She has taken classes and workshops with many of the masters of glass beadmaking including Sage and Tom Holland, Michael Barley, Andrea Guarino, Leah Fairbanks, Heather Trimlett, Stevi Belle, Patti Walton, Larry Scott, Bronwen Heilman, and Caitlyn Hyde. One of Margo's beads was juried into the International Society of Glass Beadmakers' "Obsession" catalog and auction in 2002, and her work has appeared in multiple publications, including "1000 Glass Beads" (Lark Books, 2004). She is a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and an active member of its Atlanta chapter, The Southern Flames.
