Studio/Location: Wet Room
Student Materials: Please bring the follwing: -Bring 3-10 yards total of quilters cotton (white and/or light colors) pre-washed, 36” or 44” wide, 2 continuous yards maximum. -Plus any cotton scraps for practicing/ test pieces. -WASH new fabrics in hot water prior to class to remove sizing. (DO NOT use fabric softener.) - You may bring your own long dishwashing gloves & latex/nitrile disposables. Dust masks & gloves will be provided. - Wear old clothes & shoes that can get dye splatters. An apron is also helpful.
School Fee & Materials: Please bring the following: -Bring 3-10 yards total of quilters cotton (white and/or light colors) pre-washed, 44” wide or less, 2 continuous yards maximum. -Garments sewn with cotton thread may be batikable; see instructor email for specifics. -Cotton scraps for practicing/ test pieces. Cotton muslin works great -WASH new fabrics in hot water prior to class to remove sizing.(NO fabric softener.) -You may bring your own long dishwashing gloves & latex/nitrile disposables if needed. -Dust masks are available if needed. -Wear old clothes & shoes that can get dye splatters. An apron is also essential.

Indian wood blocks, Malaysian metal stamps, Indonesian tjanting tools, and paintbrushes can all be used to make resist designs on cloth. First, we wax them, then we dye them!
