School Fee & Materials: This class will be offered in Harvest and needs a couple of picnic tables outside and access to the Open House for several days. Wood burning tools from Woodworking via Jeffrey are needed for Wednesday and Thursday so Jeffrey needs to be contacted in advance. Needs to have the Folk School provide woodburners for class. Will require some extra set up and a place to burn the Rivercane outside / Open House

Instructor Materials: Stainless steel Rods; Mapgass torches, sanders, turquoise, glass beads, glues, leather laces,

Equipment Needs: Lower Keith And access to Open house is mandatory so they can work outside and have good ventilation for glues and a place that allows for the smoke preparing the river cane. It was a problem scheduling this class in March when it was cold and the glue smells bothered the office so we moved the class to Sunshine Jim garden bldg. We need to borrow the wood burning tools from woodworking again.

Billy Whitefox shares his Creek ancestry through international recordings of Native American flute music. He is also a well-known silver/coppersmith and flutemaker, and an artist of the old-style ways of dance, storytelling, leatherwork, and more. He teaches Native American Indian culture across the U.S. at museums and educational sites, and he works with school systems and historic groups on Creek/Native history. Billy won the 2005 Native American Music Award ("Nammy") for Flutist of the Year.

Menaka Whiteowl has been playing the Native American Flute for over 15 years and has been a guest performer on multiple occasions. She assists Native American Flute workshop and offers one-one-one tutoring.
