You will always need more than you think! If you bring your own bags to the store (thank you very much) just keep your eyes open; I bet you have neighbors that use them. Also, in NC they are recycled and often there are receptacles for them at grocery stores. I will have extra. - Fabric scraps of all kinds: bring what you have to share. Please bring fabric that can be cut into long strips for wrapping as well as smaller bits that can be used for accents and stuffing. - Yarn, string and thread: stuff to wrap with. - Buttons, beads, feathers, sticks, rocks and other personal treasures to share and for embellishment. - Wire: any gauge that you might already have. Please do not purchase wire. I will supply each student with a roll of the wire that I have found works best for the process I will be teaching wire in many other gauges as well . - Safety glasses!!!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT! - Small bottle of PVA or fabric glue. - Cutting mat to protect tables if you have one (also available in the studio). - Tools: sharp cloth scissors, pliers (especially needle nose), any sewing needles and pins you might have around, awls of all sizes and shapes. - Work apron. - Hard copy pictures of animals you are thinking of making. A printed picture of an animal is invaluable. If you have any books of animals, please bring them. Cell phones are useful for detail, but pictures are much more helpful for form and understanding. You might change your ideas during the class which is fine, but thinking ahead will begin to train your eyes to see the animals.

Instructor: Charles Gattis
Studio/Location: Harvest Room
Student Materials: Please bring the following: -Students will need to have an iPhone or comparable smartphone that takes pictures. iPhones are preferred as the instructor will not have used any other. More recent iPhones are also preferred due to the innovations made over the past several years. A very recent iPhone will provide a much better experience for the student. -A laptop computer or iPad would also be helpful to the students as we will cover editing images in the class. We will edit in both Snapseed and Adobe Lightroom Mobile. Snapseed is a free app and Lightroom does have a 30 day trial period if the student wants to try it out. Of course, students can edit on their iPhones, but it is much easier on a larger screen. (See other information on computers below. A flash drive or portable drive may also be appreciated by the students if they don't have any other way of storing images that are edited off line. - Comfortable clothing, shoes, hat, and outdoor gear to suit the season (including rain gear). Also bring anything else you need for field trips (medicine, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle, etc.) For all digital classes: You are encouraged to bring your own laptop. (If you do, please have general knowledge on how to use it; we do not provide computer training.) You'll need tools to transfer your images from camera to computer; a memory card reader or a flash drive is recommended. The studio is equipped with 4 rather new Macs with the updated, full version of Photoshop for shared student use -- but this is not enough for a full class, so please bring your laptop if possible. If you use a school computer, you must bring a flash drive to save your work.
School Fee & Materials: Having Lightroom on the four computers would also be helpful as we will be editing with that and there is a version for the Macintosh that comes free with the adobe photography contract. I do also plan to bring my MacBook Pro to use with PowerPoint and Apple TV. That will make all the computers in the room available for students who don't bring a laptop.
Instructor Materials: Instructor will provide copies of the PowerPoint presentation following each class
